Hi, Just came across your site, interesting article, and you’re right I did ignore the brief, and worked on what I thought was a good idea. I only found the competition 3 days before it ended, and worked on a few ideas in that time. My entry came about when I started thinking of the Atari 2600 controller, and remembered as a kid trying to make words and shapes with game controller cables. The link takes you to my original entry, it might be fair to show my original design, as Florian changed the colour and added the stroke.

Hey Garry – thanks for sharing. I love that you posted your original design! It’s also quite neat that you were able to draw from a childhood memory to bring your design to life – that kind of thing can always help the resulting work feel more authentic and grounded.

I hope you didn’t mind my complaints in this post, haha. I was a bit peeved when I wrote it, but I didn’t want to take it out on you or your design. I hope you are seeing continued success with your design work!
