Thanks to everyone who entered the raffle to celebrate Marty Blog's 50th post, and congratulations to the winners, listed below! And no, that's not a picture of me up there.

Runners Up ($5 game via Steam): CoolGmrSms and Xxypher

Grand Prize (Team Fortress 2 or $20 equivalent via Steam): Xot

I will be contacting the winners via email. Hope to see you all around the site again soon, and thanks for helping to make this a successful raffle!

    I take it it’s a coincidence another mod won?

  • I put all of the names into an array and had GM pick them out for me, so yes, it was purely a coincidence. To be honest, the thought hadn’t even crossed my mind that Xot is a fellow mod at GMC until you mentioned it, Dmaster270.

    I have no reason to give anyone who entered preferential treatment though (many of you are big contributors to the Reflect forums, and MischiephX was even a member of the Reflect team for a great deal of time).

    Hopefully you don’t think that I fixed the results somehow – I have nothing to gain from that, and I had nothing but fairness in mind during the entire run of the contest. Xot was actually quite lucky to have won – he’s not a registered user of the site, and registered users had a greater chance of winning a prize (unregistered users were entered into the pot 4 times, registered users were entered 5).

    There will be future contests, so don’t worry. I’ve got a couple of games on my Steam account that I have extras of, and I’d like to find a way to get rid of them. :)

    I calls foul play on part of the judge! The reff was payed! Fred uses Macs, he’s opinion doesn’t count! The contest was fixed!

    Naw, just kidding. While I would have liked to win, I did get the game I wanted as a prize from a friend a few days ago, so all’s good! Hope the winners enjoy their prizes! :)

    I take it the creation code was:
    {
    array[0,0] = “xot”;
    array[0,1] = “xot”;
    array[0,2] = “xot”;
    array[0,3] = “xot”;
    array[1,0] = “CoolGmrSms”;
    array[1,1] = “CoolGmrSms”;
    array[1,2] = “CoolGmrSms”;
    array[1,3] = “CoolGmrSms”;
    array[2,0] = “Xxypher”;
    array[2,1] = “Xxypher”;
    array[2,2] = “Xxypher”;
    array[2,3] = “Xxypher”;
    winner = array[ceil(random(2)),ceil(random(3))];
    } (with everyone)
    and the draw event was drawing winner?

    Xot’s a buttmunch, I want my present!

  • Kinda like that, I just had it collect all the names from a text file (each name was entered as many times as was supposed to be, on it’s own line), set a random seed, shuffle the list, and then draw from the top. The name would appear in a message box, the program would close, and I would start again.

  • Truth be told, I would have liked to do a video of the thing running, with a YouTube recording (and a more visual presentation of course), but time simply did not allow it. Next time, I suppose. :)

    OMG! OMFG! I’ve never won anything before my life! WooHOOO!!!! *does taunting jig*

    I’d like to thank the academy for this tremendous honor, my parents for their encouragement to enter random contests, Fred’s evil twin Marty (who really knows how to “play ball”), and all the brave little electrons who gave their lives to make this possible. With this generous (and well deserved) prize, I can leave behind the drudgery of buttmunchery forever. Only in America!

    Thanks, Marty!

    I demand a recount!

  • Thomas Davison says:

    I hope to see xot on TF2. Then i can blow you up for winning. :P Anywayz well done!

  • Aw, man! Oh well, you can’t win ’em all, especially when pure chance is involved. ;)

    Hope to enter into the next contest if you have one.

    Uh, one question, though.

    “and tell me what you think about Marty Blog.” is in the rules for the comment/post/whatever. Does that mean that mine (and a couple of others) were not included in the drawing?

    Maybe I’d better read the rules more thoroughly next time, or at least not get too hooked on Yourself’s post. :)

  • No, it didn’t matter what you posted. Every post in that topic was included in the drawing, except mine. Winning my own raffle would be fun for me, but not for anyone else!
