June Toons 2026 #22: Lazy Dog

Martin · 12 hours
A cartoon illustration of a dog sitting on a chair, watching TV. The dog is smiling and holding a TV remote up. He is brown with dark brown nose and ears, a lighter belly, and is shaped like a gumdrop. He fills most of the chair. The chair is a large blue armchair with a white doily draped over the back. The background is a gray green color with light splotches of spray paint behind the dog.

Today's June Toons cartoon is of a dog watching TV. I wanted to explore some looser shapes today, and I feel like this was a success in that regard. It's also very similar to an old thing I made involving a robot watching TV.

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for linework, the Wet Glaze brush for coloring, the Soft air brush, Grunge brush, and Fat Nozzle, Burst, and Medium Nozzle spray paint brushes for texture, and finally the Inka brush for light detailing.

A cartoon illustration of a large robot and a small robot. The small robot is jumping and holding up a sign over its head. The large robot is crouching down slightly and has its hand behind the small robot. Both robots are smiling, and the small robot looks especially excited. The sign is a plain white board with a red heart on it. The large robot is red with metallic trim and a multi-colored control panel on its chest. It has a small round antenna on top of its head. The small robot is a mustard yellow with metallic trim, and a closed rectangular panel on its chest. The background is a pale green with a white floor going diagonally downward across from the left to the right.

For today's June Toons cartoon, I thought I would continue my tradition of doing a Father's Day themed drawing, this time with robots. It felt like a nice day to keep things simple too, so the linework and shading are pretty basic, but I like it like that. 😊

Happy Father's Day!

A cartoon illustration of a Shy Guy, from the Super Mario Bros. games, peeking out of a large pot and waving at the viewer. The Shy Guy is halfway out of the pot and gripping the side of it with one arm. The other arm is up in a wave. The Shy Guy's mask looks as if he is smiling. The Shy Guy is dressed in a red cloak with a white mask and black strap. The pot is white with a red zig-zag design clipped off by the bottom of the image. The background is a bright blue.

Today's June Toons cartoon is of a Shy Guy peeking out of one of those tall pots and waving happily at the viewer.

A cartoon illustration of a cow and a pig with heads pushed together at the sides, giving each other dirty looks. The cow is eating a piece of bacon, and small bits are falling out of its mouth. The pig is drinking milk from a glass through a straw. Their eyes are so close they are touching each other, and both of their eyes are slightly bloodshot. The cow is light blue with dark spots and pink ears and mouth. The pig is a bright pink with a lighter colored nose. Both animals have slightly yellow eyes with red irises. The background is orange with a splotch of yellow spray paint on top, behind the animals.

Today's June Toons cartoon is of a cow and pig who aren't getting along very well. I wonder why?

A cartoon illustration of a small round creature running on a treadmill trying to grab some money hanging in front of him, which another creature of the same type relaxes above him, holding the money out with a pole and string. The treadmill is connected to a silly machine that is printing out money, which is shooting out over the resting creature. The running creature has sweat droplets coming from him and he looks stressed out. The resting creature is smiling and has his eyes closed and is wearing a top hat. The drawing is done in a style a bit like Dr. Seuss, with garish colors and harsh shading reminiscent of his books. The creatures are orange, the machine and treadmill are pink, purple, and blue. The pillows the relaxing creature is resting on are yellow. The money is green. The background is a light yellow with a white ellipse that goes behind both creatures.

Today's June Toons cartoon is probably the most complex one I'm going to do for this project, but I had an idea that I wanted to get it out of my brain before I forgot it!

I didn't really plan on making this look Seuss-like when I started, but when I began making the machine and the apparatus that the top creature is resting on, it just felt like a good idea to make it silly. It didn't need to be technical; it just needed to get the idea across.

But I like the garish colors from those old books too, so it's a win-win. 😄

A cartoon illustration of a lizard woman. The woman has bright green skin and a lizard face with large teeth in a big grin. She has large yellow eyes that are bulging out of her head, and she is looking at the viewer, with her head pointed to the left. She has mid-length red hair and bangs and is wearing a cream-and-orange striped shirt. Her skin has darker spots on it in various places. The background is lavender with a darker, skewed ellipse behind the woman, and a light splatter of spray paint.

Today's June Toons drawing is a lizard lady. I don't believe in lizard people, but if I did, I'm convinced they would be friendly.

June Toons 2026 #16: 3D

A cartoon illustration of a man wearing 3D glasses. The man is facing the viewer and has his head cocked to the side. He has a large, open smile and a pointy tongue sticking out of his mouth. He has a small puff of hair on the top of his long head, and he has on a white tank top. The man's skin is turquoise, his hair is purple, and his tongue is pink. The 3D glasses are falling off his round ears on one side. The background is yellow. The drawing is lightly shaded with a stippled effect.

Today's June Tunes illustration is of a man wearing 3D glasses. I'm not really sure what was supposed to be going on in this drawing, but I like how vague it is. It was also fun to experiment a bit with some stippling brushes.

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Rough Liner brush for linework, and the Rough Pressure Scatter - Dense brush for the stippled shading.

The Rough Liner and Rough Pressure brushes are from the Stipple Studio pack, by True Grit Texture Supply.

A cartoon illustration of the character Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th film series holding a chocolate ice cream cone and eating it through his mask. Jason is wearing a white hockey mask that has a series of small holes in it, and two larger holes for his eyes. The mask has two blue triangular marks on the cheeks, pointing downward under the nose. It has straps on the sides and tops. He is also wearing a blue jumpsuit and dark green gloves, and has a machete strapped to his back. The ice cream cone is a cream color with brown ice cream on top. The ice cream has a large bite taken out of it, and it is dripping onto the cone. The hockey mask has a large brown smudge over the mouth area. The background is pink, with a lighter pink going diagonally across from the upper left to the bottom right.

Today's June Toons cartoon is our good friend Jason enjoying a sweet treat. Don't worry about the mess - he can dip his mask back in the lake when he's finished. 💀

A cartoon illustration of a Minecraft player and a Creeper riding in a mine cart together. The player has a light complexion, a red shirt, and messy brown hair. Behind him is a Creeper. The player is gripping the edge of the mine cart and they both look scared. There are a couple drops of sweat coming off the Creeper. The mine cart is at an oblique angle facing to the left and partly towards the viewer. It has speed lines coming off of it, but it is not drawn on track. The background is a dull, gray blue with a lighter glow behind the mine cart and characters.

Today's June Toons cartoon was inspired by my son, who is currently obsessed with Minecraft (especially the mine cart rides).

A cartoon illustration of a soccer referee holding up a red card. The ref is a balding older man with a stylized conical head. He has a large nose and a five o'clock shadow. He has a medium complexion and is wearing a black short with white stripes on the shoulders and an earpiece with a microphone curving down to his mouth. His eyes are closed and his head is tilted back slightly. The ref's arm is sticking up next to his head, and it is holding up a large rectangular red card. A blur of field and stands with colorful fans is in the background. A splotch of transparent white spray paint is behind the hand holding up the red card.

Today's June Toons was inspired by the World Cup games we've been watching this weekend. I didn't actually see any red cards given, but I thought it'd be a more fun drawing than with a yellow card. 😆
