Inktober 2026 #29: Tusk

Martin · 5 hours (10:07 PM · Oct 29, 2026)
A black and white illustration of a broken tusk, a Polaroid photograph, and a candle. The tusk is resting on its middle and curved upward on both ends. The far end appears to be broken, and the closer end is the tip. It has grooves going down its length. The Polaroid photo is leaning up against the tusk in the middle and is of a walrus with a broken tusk. The candle is medium-length and is behind the tusk, to the left. It is on a basic candle holder, and there are beads of melted wax running down it. It is lit and giving off a soft glow. The background is dark gray.

I couldn't think of anything particularly clever for today's Inktober prompt, "tusk", so I just went with something a bit more literal and I sorta like it. My only regret is that I didn't fill the space better, but maybe it's better this way.

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Inka brush for linework, and the Gouache brush and Soft air brush for shading.
