For today's Februdoodle illustration, I drew a robot playing card!

I also tried out a new brush, the Technical Pen, and I really like it. It has a slightly softer edge than the Syrup brush, and the pressure is a lot less sensitive, so it's easier to get a more consistent line width on long strokes. The auto-smoothing is a little more aggressive than I'm used to, but I adapted pretty quick. I hope to find more uses for it soon!

Today's Februdoodle illustration was a quickie - only about 30 minutes from start to finish - of my Xbox controller (minus the Chatpad).

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Inka brush for almost everything else, the Soft air brush for some light gradients, and the Fat Nozzle spray paint brush for background texture.

Here's today's Februdoodle - inspired by the epic amount of soccer our family gets up to some weekends. We had a fun time watching it today! ⚽

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Inka brush for linework, the Hartz brushes for background texture, and the Soft air brush for shading. I'm posting each finished illustration at my website.

For today's Februdoodle illustration, I drew a cartoon pizza delivery man taking a bit out of a pizza (and looking a bit crazed about it). 🍕

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for linework, the Soft air brush for minor detailing, and the Splatter spray paint brush and Hartz brush for background texture.

Today's Februdoodle illustration is a happy little monster truck taking a big jump. 😄

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for just about everything else, and a small assist from the Soft air brush for the background gradients.

I was having a hard time coming up with something to do for today's Februdoodle illustration, so here's a still life. The colors looked a lot less garish on my iPad, but... I sorta like them. 😎

That's three weeks of illustrations done for this project!

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Inka brush for just about everything else, and a small assist from the Soft air brush and the Hartz at the end.

Februdoodle 2024 #20: Costume

Martin · 305 days

For today's Februdoodle illustration, I thought it'd be sort of fun to contrast the costume with the costume wearer.

I'm not sure why this particular idea popped into my head, but I'm pleased with how the drawing turned out. I like creating clean illustrations like this!

Februdoodle 2024 #19: Building

Martin · 306 days

For today's Februdoodle illustration, I drew a building!

Originally, I planned on doing something like this, but a little more flat, from a side-view perspective. As I was sitting down to draw, I felt inspired and ended up doing it in perspective.

If I had to do it over again, I'd probably pull the vanishing points out a bit to make the higher angles a little less sharp, but overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially once I got to the color layers. I was spending a lot of time waiting for my computer to render things today, so it was nice to have the time to really dig into one of these illustrations, something I don't always get to do.

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for linework, and the Hartz brush and Soft air brush for texture/details.

Today's Februdoodle illustration is a caterpillar eating a leaf!

I'm not super happy with this one, but it started off as sort of an experiment, and hey, it's not a requirement that I like all of the pieces in this project. It will help me do better the next time I attempt something like this! 😎

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, a modified version of the Mercury brush for linework, and the Tarraleah and Old Beach brushes for texture, with a small assist from the Soft air brush.

Februdoodle 2024 #17: Late!

Martin · 308 days

Today's Februdoodle illustration is of a woman looking at her watch and realizing she's super late!

I probably should have done something a little more dynamic with her right arm. I almost did, as you can see in the sketch, but ended up wanting it to flow more with the rest of her body on that side. I also struggled a bit with the background, which you will see in the back half of the video.

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for linework, and the Hartz brush and Soft air brush for background texture/flair.
