Inktober 2024 #10: Nomadic

Today's Inktober prompt was "nomadic" and I had no idea what to draw for it. So I drew a bird in a cloak, with a staff. I guess he's a nomad? 😅

Inktober 2024 #9: Sun

All elements of the scene that are lit by the rectangular area of light are a gold yellow, and the rest is a dark teal. The cat is a slightly lighter shade of gold than the rest of the sunbeam. The cat is sleeping and has a contented smile on its face. There is a sock hanging over the edge of the basket under the cat, and another stray sock on the floor below. I went extremely hard into cozy territory with today's Inktober illustration. 😸

I've drawn one like this before, for a past project, but I can't remember which one and I did not reference it for this one. I visited my mom today and had some fun with her cats though, so I was feeling this when it came time to draw something.

Inktober 2024 #8: Hike

She has a light complexion, long brown hair tied back in a ponytail, a white top, green shorts, and red shoes. Inktober 2024 #7: Passport

An illustration of an alien passport. The passport is shaped like a U.S. passport book, and it open to the first page that shows the alien's photo, where he's from, and has his signature. The opposing page is covered in stamps from locations the alien has visited, all planets from the solar system: the moon, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. Each stamp has a unique date and other various icons and numbers. The alien is a pale green and has a third eye above his other two, and small webbed ears that point downward. He is smiling slightly. The passport is sitting on a pale green background that is paneled and has various crumbs and stains on it.

With this illustration, I've officially completed the first week of Inktober this year! It feels a little like it's been going on longer than that, but these have been busy days, so I think I'm just feeling that a bit.

Hopefully everyone has been enjoying these so far!

Anyway, this drawing is of an alien passport, featuring a three-eyed alien that is reminiscent of one that I made for a previous Inktober, five years ago in 2019. That was one of my favorite series, and so I thought it'd be cool to call back to it in some way.

Inktober 2024 #6: Trek

An illustration of a person walking in the distance, having traveled over a number of small hills/undulations, leaving a trail of footprints over each one in a series of arcs. The closest hill is a red-orange color, followed by orange, pale yellow, light turquoise, blue green, and finally a dark blue. The sky in the background is a lavender color. The rims of the hills and sky are speckled with texture. Some small stars dot the sky near the edges. The person is drawn in a very basic silhouette, almost as a stick figure.

I had a hard time coming up with a visual idea for this Inktober illustration but ended up taking a slightly different route from the previous drawings in the series. It's a little basic, but I still like how it turned out.

The colors are based on some of the tiles on the Azul (board game) box, which was sitting next to me on the table where I was drawing tonight.

Inktober 2024 #5: Binoculars

Continuing to work from the "official" prompt list for Inktober 2024, here is my fifth illustration for the prompt "binoculars".

I enjoyed drawing and doing the linework for this one, but I'm not sure if I like how it turned out. I wanted to tell more of a story with the background, but I also sort of liked how wholesome the man's expression is, and didn't want to sully it by making him spy on people or something. 😆

Inktober 2024 #4: Exotic

I was getting ready to settle into some video games and then go to sleep and then I realized I hadn't done today's Inktober illustration yet! 😵‍💫

Inktober 2024 #3: Boots

Today's Inktober prompt was "Boots", so naturally I drew a cartoon cat wearing boots. I think I've channeled some of that Ren & Stimpy energy from a couple of weeks ago into this one too.

Inktober 2024 #2: Discover

Here's today's Inktober drawing for the prompt "discover", featuring a man discovering a giant hair in his sandwich.

We've all had this happen before, haven't we? I had a time where I found a particularly long hair in my sandwich. It was a really good sandwich, and I was so sad to have to stop eating it. I never got a sandwich from that restaurant again, and just thinking about it still sort of bums me out.
