Inktober 2024 #14: Roam

Martin · 1 day (10:40 PM · Oct 14, 2024)
An illustration of a hand holding a cell phone. The phone's screen has a large face that looks like the "money-mouth face" emoji, with dollar-signs for the eyes and a green tongue sticking out of a smiling mouth, also with a dollar-sign on it. The rest of the phone's screen is a shiny light blue, with the word "roam" written in large letters in red at the bottom. There are three arcs radiating from the top right corner of the phone, like wireless signals. The case of the phone is gray. The hand and arm have a light complexion. The background is a faded orange, with a red-orange ellipse behind the phone.

This is my fourteenth illustration for Inktober, and the last one for the second week of drawings! The prompt for this one was "roam".

I struggled a lot with this one (as you can see in my evolving sketch here). I wasn't feeling very inspired by the prompt, and the guy in the first few sketches just wouldn't come together in a way that made me want to finish it.

I did like how the hand and phone looked though, so ultimately that's what I ended up going with. Hopefully tomorrow's prompt is better! 😅

This was created in Procreate with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, using the Procreate Pencil brush for sketching, the Syrup brush for linework, and the Soft air brush for shading.

If you'd like to see how I drew this one, you can watch the time-lapse below:
